Sinus Tonic Ingredients
Sinus Tonic contains nine healing herbs:
Promotes bone and joint health, supports healthy liver function, and stimulates urinary function for cleansing.
It purifies the blood, prevents gallstones, fights Alzheimer’s, and helps settle bad digestion. In addition, it promotes weight loss, generates red blood cells, regulates heart rate and blood pressure, provides healthy skin, and improves vision.
Also, it detoxifies the body, serves as a laxative, treats aching muscles, fights against diabetes, and boosts the body’s immunity system.
Echinacea is very popular for treating colds and flu. This herb is a great immune system booster. Many people enjoy it as a healthy tea. Some of its other uses are for treating sore throat and upper respiratory tract infections. It is a good detoxifier and has antiviral, anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties.
Gentian has a long standing herbal reputation as a digestive tonic and stimulant, and is an ingredient in a number of European apperitifs. The intensely bitter taste is the main cause of its beneficial effects. Stimulation of bitter taste receptors results in the secretion of digestive juices, including stomach acid, bile and pancreatic enzymes. As such, it is a supreme digestive stimulant (and is a key ingredient in the popular 'Swedish bitters'), providing support for effective digestion, prevention of food-derived infections and allergies, prevention of intestinal fermentation, enhancement of nutrient assimilation and waste removal via the bowel.
The health benefits of capsicum include relief from stomach issues, back pain, muscle spasms, headaches, cancer, skin aging, peptic ulcers, menopausal problems, lower risk of cardiovascular diseases, and diabetes. It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, and may also provide relief from pain related to arthritis. Capsicum also helps with fibromyalgia and psoriasis.
Marigold or more commonly Calendula has been used medicinally for centuries. Traditionally, it has been used to treat conjunctivitis, blepharitis, eczema, gastritis, minor burns including sunburns, warts, and minor injuries such as sprains and wounds. It has also been used to treat cramps, coughs, and snake bites. Calendula has a high content of flavonoids, chemicals that act as anti-oxidants in the body. Anti-oxidants are thought to protect body cells from damage caused by a chemical process called oxidation. Oxidation produces oxygen free radicals, natural chemicals that may suppress immune function.
The herb is used internally as a tea or in tablet or capsule form to treat liver and gallbladder diseases such as liver damage, cirrhosis, hepatitis, and jaundice.
The bile driving and liver protective properties of artichoke are associated with substances cynarine and the chlorogenic and neo chlorogenic acids found in the plant. These substances are believed to protect the liver cells from damage caused by free radicals, heavy alcohol consumption, and other toxins.
Artichokes can also help prevent gallstones, and the German Commission E. recommends the use of artichoke in the prevention of recurrent gallstone problems.
It has also been used as an herbal remedy for indigestion, loss of appetite and dyspepsia with bloated feeling, intestinal gas, belching, nausea, irritable bowel syndrome, high cholesterol, obesity and gout.
Barberry has traditionally been used as a treatment for digestive disorders, skin irritations, and lesions. It has anti inflammatory and antibiotic properties and has been used in the treatment of urinary tract and bladder infections, upper respiratory infections and abnormal uterine bleeding.
It may be beneficial to the cardiovascular and neural systems and may be used as a treatment for epilepsy and convulsions. It has also been used as an alternative treatment for tachycardia and hypertension.
Eyebright has been associated with eye health for a very long time, and from the 11th century to our days, the herb has been used as an herbal remedy for various eye diseases.
It has been used both internally and externally to soothe tired and bloodshot eyes, and to treat styes (an infection of the sebaceous glands at the base of the eyelashes), conjunctivitis and inflammation of the eyelid edges (blepharitis).
Eyebright was also used traditionally to treat sore and itchy eyes caused by colds and allergies.
Elderflower has been used in traditional medicine all over the world in many different cultures due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. The most common uses are for colds and flu, sinus infections, and other respiratory disturbances. As a supplement, elderflower also has diuretic and laxative properties and is helpful in relieving occasional constipation. Elderflower has antibacterial and antiviral properties and may also help alleviate some allergies and boost the functioning of the immune system. Topically, elderflower might help reduce pain and swelling in joints due to some forms of arthritis and is used to stop bleeding. As an oral rinse, elderflower can be used for its antiseptic properties as a mouthwash and gargle. Elderflower also reduces blood sugar levels, very similar to the way insulin works.
There is also a touch of Chilli in the tonic to enhance the healing action of the other herbs and to aid absorption.
If necessary, the tonic can be taken with water, juice or a jelly bean.
Like all good natural herbal remedies the Tonic is slow and steady and results depend on your age, and how chronic your sinusitus issues are.
Health Benefits of Herbs
Herbs contain unique antioxidants, essential oils, vitamins, phytosterols and many other plants derived nutrient substances, which help equip our body to fight against germs, toxins and to boost immunity level. Herbs are, in fact, medicines in smaller dosages.
Essential oils in herbs have been found to have an anti-inflammatory function by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which mediates inflammatory cascade reaction inside the human body. The enzyme-inhibiting effect of essential oils in herbs makes it a valuable remedy for symptomatic relief in individuals with inflammatory health problems such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and inflammatory bowel conditions like ulcerative colitis.
Many novel compounds in herbs have been found to reduce blood sugar levels in people with diabetes.
Controlled-epidemiological studies have shown that certain compounds in herbs may bring significant reduction in total cholesterol and blood pressure, and thereby, helps cut down coronary artery disease and stroke risk.
The volatile oils, vitamins, and antioxidants in the herbs have cytotoxicity action against prostate, pancreatic, colon, endometrial cancer cells.
The chemical compounds in the herbs have been found to be anti-spasmodic, carminative, diaphoretic, analgesic, aphrodisiac, deodorant, digestive, antiseptic, lipolytic (fat burning and weight loss action), stimulant and stomachic effects when taken in a proper dosage.
